SELLY OAK NEW ROAD PHASE 2, HOSPITAL LINK ROAD PHASE 3 AND VINCENT DRIVE TEMPORARY ACCESS WORKS
Pasted below is the latest information I have been sent by Birmingham City Council for the Construction of a new road between the end of Selly Oak New Rd-Phase 1A (off Harborne Ln) and the junction of Bristol Rd/ Edgbaston Park Rd. I will regularly update this information, as and when I receive further revisions from the Council:

Selly Oak New Road Phase 2
The Scheme includes for the Construction of a new road to relieve A38 Bristol Rd as it runs through the Selly Oak Centre. It will run between the end of Selly Oak New Rd-Phase 1A (off Harborne Ln) and the junction of Bristol Rd/ Edgbaston Park Rd.
Programmed Works from Saturday 13th March, 2010 until Friday 19th March 2010.
Saturday/ Sunday work
A railway possessions is planned between 1230hrs and 0900hrs on Sunday 14th March.
Construction of the plateau for the construction of the new railway bridge on the Hospital Road side of the railway and excavation of the old canal will be taking place on Saturday.
BT will be constructing a road crossing on Edgbaston Park Road.
A road closure will be in place between 0900hrs on Saturday 13th March and 1800hrs on Sunday 14th March. The inside lane of the Bristol Road adjacent Edgbaston Park Road will also be closed. Traffic diversion routes will be in place.
Hours of work will be 0900hrs until 1800hrs, Saturday and Sunday.
Construction of the plateau for the construction of the new railway bridge will be continuing on the Hospital Road side of the railway. (Structure 3a).
The sinking of the caissons on the Hospital Road side of the railway will be taking place. This is to enable the columns to be built for the new railway bridge.
Excavation of the existing canal will be taking place. This will enable the new aqueduct to be constructed. (Structure 3b).
Formwork and steelfixing to the insitu part of Structure 5 will be taking place. This is to enable the new road to cross the Bournbrook.
Erecting new Lamp Columns on Bristol Road.
From Monday 22nd February, 2010, Arley Road will be closed to enable BT diversion works to take place. Access to frontagers will be maintained.
Works to widen Edgbaston Park Road will commence.
Bournbrook Road is closed from 1st September 2009 until the end of February 2011 to vehicular traffic. Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained at all times and a signed diversion is now in place.
The inside lane of the into City carriageway of the Bristol Road will be closed from 1000hrs on Friday 5th March until Saturday 6th March when the diversion will be switched to the out of City carriageway (see Sat/Sun working above). This is to enable BT to construct a road crossing to divert their equipment.

Works to widen Edgbaston Park Road will continue on the corner of Edgbaston Park Road and Bristol Road.
Central Networks will be reinstating their equipment.
BT will be on cabling works outside RoSPA and near South Gate entrance to the University.
A temporary pedestrian diversion will be in place.
Eon will be working in the nosing of the central reserve of the Bristol Road opposite Edgbaston Park Road.
Eon will also be installing ducts in the verge outside Bournbrook Court and across the front of the Fire and Ambulance Station
Gas diversionary work will be taking place near the Ambulance Station. Pedestrian and traffic management will be in place.
They will also be working opposite Tesco Express, outside the Dentist.
BT will be constructing Inspection Chambers outside Bournbrook Court and in Bournbrook Road/ Arley Road. No diversionary works for pedestrians will be required. (See note regarding Saturday/ Sunday working in Edgbaston Park Road).
Cable connections will be taking place outside RoSPA and near South Gate.

Hospital Link Road Phase 3
The primary purpose of these works is to provide a new high quality access to the New Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The H.L.R 3 will be a public highway connected to the new Selly Oak New Road.
The first phase of the hospital is due to open in June 2010 and access will be gained along H.L.R 3 and the access junctions A & B on Vincent Drive.
Upon completion of the H.L.R 3 works will commence on the permanent junction lay outs at A & B junctions and the down grading of Vincent Drive.
Works in the week starting the 13th of March 2010 will include:
· The procurement of all Statutory undertakers diversion/connection works including;
· Central Networks
· The Severn Trent Water diversion/connection works.
· Bulk cutting and capping operations.
· Badger tunnel installations.
· Ducting installation works.
· Kerbing works
· Switching of BNHJV car park access to University Road West
· Disconnection of private Electrical Cables
· Surface water drainage works.
