Why I am standing down

On Monday 15th January, I announced that I will not be standing for re-election as MP for Birmingham Selly Oak at the next general election.

Click here to read an article on my decision in the 'House Magazine' (a magazine for MPs in Westminster) , and click here to see my interview with 'The Stirrer' where I explain my reasons in more detail

I  remain a member of the Labour Party and please be assured that I will continue to work as hard as possible to represent all of my constituents for the rest of my time in Parliament.

People say...

"I want to thank you for so kindly welcoming us on our visit to Parliament and being so generous  and giving of your time & energy.  When we have an issue in the future we won’t be feeling so unsure about what to do! Members of Parliament seem a little awesome to us, but you made it so easy."
