STIRCHLEY
Meeting Date

New Priorities:
* Young people congregating and causing ASB evenings Beilby Road @ Windsor Road
* Vandalism to cars, street furniture etc Charlotte Road, Leahouse Road, Mary Vale Road area early hours especially Friday / Saturday nights
* Pot hole Bournville Lane prior to railway bridge
Previous Priorities:
*Young people congregating and causing ASB in park area at rear of derelict Meeting House and Bond Street
The neighbourhood team have patrolled the park when possible and spoken to a small number of young people who were not causing any issues. We have not received any specific complaints of damage or ASB. Youth leader Liz Wood has also patrolled the area and has invited some of the young people to take part in activities at The Den Youth House. We will continue to pay attention to this area.

PCSO Stor has knocked doors and spoken to a number of residents in Warren Road but has not received any specific complaints. The team have patrolled the area on lates but have not encountered any groups.
Other Updates
Graffiti in Stirchley
The neighbourhood team recently arrested two males, one from Stirchley, who are believed to be responsible for organised graffiti tagging throughout the city, including in Stirchley and Kings Heath. One of the males has been charged with a number of offences of criminal damage, including £3,500 worth of damage to the walls of St Andrews Health Care Trust. He has been remanded in custody by the courts. The other lad has been bailed for further enquires but is likely to be charged at a later date. The team are working closely with Birmingham City Council, Travel West Midlands and British Transport Police to identify damage committed by this group. The tags they used included ‘TFC’ and ‘Blur’. Compensation of thousands of pounds will be requested via the courts.
Bogus Officials and Cold Callers
The neighbourhood team have been informed of an incident in Lewis Road when a dark skinned male aged approx 30 yrs knocked the door of a resident asking if she wished to sell her 10 yr old car for scrap. The male was persistent, visiting the address twice. He left in a green car when challenged by a neighbour. The team would like to know of any similar incidents.
In another incident in Brent Road a white male aged approx 17yrs with blond hair knocked several doors asking the residents if he could use the toilet. He also told one resident he was doing a survey for BRMB into whether people would let him in their houses. He had no identification.
In Hall Green there have been a number of recent bogus official burglaries where males have gained entry to elderly person(s) houses by pretending to be plain clothes police officers or from the water board. They have then stolen property.
We would ask people to be cautious when approached by any person(s) purporting to be selling door to door, completing surveys etc. Always ask for and check identification. Genuine Severn Trent Water employees will only ever come into a house by prior employment. No genuine caller (including police officers) will mind a phone call to their office to verify their identity.

* Road markings needing re-painting Doversley Road @ Dawberry Fields Road (previous issue but still not resolved)
* Weeds on pavements Harton Way
* Large pot hole Alcester Road South @ Howard Road
* Poorly completed road re-surfacing work Westminster Drive and West Mead Drive
Previous Priorities:
*Young people congregating, drinking alcohol, noise, nuisance and anti social behaviour in Grove Road playing fields evenings and weekends.
The neighbourhood team have now identified a contact at Birmingham City Council responsible for the security and maintenance of the playing fields. The gate at Grove Road has had extra mesh added to it..however it is still possible to climb over. We will be requesting mesh to be fitted on the other side of the gate and possibly something on the top to deter climbing. We are trying to arrange a joint visit with the council contact to review the security around the perimeter of the field. We have also requested a key to enable us to patrol at night inside the field. There have been no incidents for a few weeks but this may have been due to the poor weather. We will further update once the joint visit has taken place.
*Overgrown weeds and litter in Granton Road and Listowel Road area
A cleaning operation has taken place, all weeds removed and litter cleared.
Other Updates
Mountaineer Pub.
The pub is temporarily closed. Enterprise Inns have made an application to vary the conditions of licence which includes a variation of licensing hours to 11pm Fridays and Saturdays, the removal of regulated entertainment, installation of CCTV as well as a number of other conditions requested by police. If no objections are received this variation will be approved on 11th August. The review is still active pending the result of the variation.
Parking issues in Colmore Road
Sergeant Knowles has had a meeting with the Head Teachers of King Edward VI Camp Hill Secondary Schools. Sadly the Head Teachers feel unable to offer parking spaces to their sixth form pupils due to insufficient room on site. The DPS of the Red Lion PH has kindly agreed to allow the students to park during school hours in the pub car park. The Head Teachers have agreed to speak to the new sixth form intake in September, and to publicise the issue in the newsletter. Sergeant Knowles will also send an officer to speak to the students at the beginning of term. The team will pay attention to Colmore Road over the summer period and will be engaging with Colmore J & I School in September to arrange a safe parking initiative involving school pupils and teachers.
Dawberry Fields Summer Funday
The funday went very well with a high turnout, despite the weather. Some very positive feedback was received from residents. A big thank you to Richard Green (Allens Croft, Brandwood and Waterside Neighbourhood Manager) who worked very hard to bring everybody together and organise the event).
