LYNNE JONES WELCOMES DECISION ON DOCTORS

Local MP, Lynne Jones, has welcomed the BBC’s announcement as part of the Network Supply Review that Doctors will continue to be made in  Birmingham.  She said:

“I am delighted that production of Doctors is to remain at the Drama Village in Birmingham.  The loss of this show would have been a severe blow to jobs and television production in the West Midlands.  The BBC has confirmed that more investment is to be made in Birmingham and I very much hope that the future of Selly Oak Drama Village is now secure.”

"I have tabled the following Early Day Motion:

BBC DRAMA VILLAGE IN BIRMINGHAM

This House welcomes the announcement that Doctors, the BBC’s popular daytime drama, is to stay in Birmingham; fully supports the decisions of the BBC’s Network Supply Review, which confirmed that more investment is to be made in Birmingham and that the centre’s current drama remit will be expanded; hopes that this heralds a new commitment to television production in the West Midlands and that the future of the BBC Drama Village at the University of Birmingham is now secure.
