Bottle Watch Scheme

18 October 2008

Kings Heath South and Stirchley Neighbourhood Team are working together with the council to run a bottle watch scheme over the next few weeks.

Five off licences in the Stirchley, Vicarage Road, and Allens Croft area have agreed to take part. Each off licence has marked certain bottles and cans they are selling.

What we are asking yourselves to do is when you are out and about in your neighbourhoods to check the parks, street corners and areas where you are aware people may be congregating and drinking in the street and if you see discarded bottles and cans with numbered blue stickers on the bottom to please let us know when and where you have seen them.

If the experiment shows that a number of these bottles/cans are being brought at a certain off licence we can then work with the off licence staff to identify the persons buying the alcohol and try to prevent it being passed to under age and anti social street drinkers.
