The Mind Champion of the Year Award is awarded to the person who has made the most important contribution in challenging discrimination against people with mental health problems during the previous year.  I was short listed together with Anna Savage, Jacqui Dillon, Alistair Campbell and Paul O'Grady.

I am pictured above with Jacqui Dillon, Chair of the Hearing Voices Network, Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of Mind and Alistair Campbell, best known for his role as former No. 10 Communications Director.

Alistair Campbell was announced as the winner of the award for speaking openly about living with depression and for his BBC2 documentary about his breakdown in 1986.  I was nominated for my work with the All Party Parliamentary Group on Mental Health.
